In recent years, a large number of migrant workers have swarmed into cities. But concerts, movies or shows are just luxuries far from the reach of the migrant population.

China’s urbanization process, which has brought lots of the rural population into cities, doesn’t seem to endow them with a better cultural life. The gap in cultural enjoyment between the urban and rural populations is widening.

One China, featuring fast economic growth and rapid globalization process, is emerging in the world arena. This splendid China is now even regarded as a developed country by some Western countries, and is supposed to lead the world out of the financial crisis.

Nevertheless, the other China, suffering from a cultural crisis, deserves more attention.

To achieve sustainable development, the significance of enhancing the cultural life quality of the rural population is no less than that of economic growth.
