Recently, some Indian enterprises demanded that their government restrict Chinese companies in telecom and electronic devices from securing the Indian domestic market. It was another "China threat" in the name of maintaining national security and protecting local industries.

The Indian electronics department last month sent out notice asking both State-owned and private telecom operators not to use Chinese products in border area to avoid information leakage.

In July, the Indian Chamber of Commerce noted that the cheap electronic devices produced by Chinese manufacturers seriously threatened their local industry.

Due to a report from Indian Ministry of Finance, India imported $8.3 billion worth of products from China in 2008. A staff member from Huawei's Indian office said that India had become their biggest overseas market, which brought in great profits. The Indian government's attitude would jeopardize their development.

Many private telecom operators reportedly objected to government's banning Chinese products, since most of them had contracts with Huawei or ZTE, another telecom giant in China.
