Spring weddings shakedowns leave empty pockets

I always thought that brides were supposed to be slim for their weddings, but, alas, the girls at the ones I go to always seem to have subtly swelling tummies. Thus I know that another bill is coming, because soon I'll have to go to the banquet for the birth of the new kid.
When the tomb of Cao Cao (155-220), a warlord of the Three Kingdoms period, was discovered recently, two skulls were found. Some people joked that the bigger one belonged to the adult Cao Cao, and the smaller one was from when he was a child.
No one will pay twice the price to see that tomb, but I will end up paying twice for my friends' tombs of love.
I ended up giving 1,200 yuan ($175.80) to a former classmate of mine in just six months, thanks to the double whammy of wedding and baby shower.
When I was studying in college, I never kept a personal budget. After having my bank account drained by my friend's weddings, I tried to save money.
I gave up trying a few days later after I realized that the only way was to walk to work, which is already 40 minutes on the bus, or skip breakfast.
At least the "widow year" will be more peaceful for my wallet, while this spring will be a financial blessing for my friends.
